“Where architecture dissolves into landscape”

Designed to blur the boundary between built form and terrain, the Serene Glass Pavilion sits within a bamboo grove on the eastern hills of Kyoto.

The pavilion emerges from a narrow site wedged between two ancient cedar trees. Rather than clear the land, the design wraps around the existing canopy, creating a series of interlocking volumes that step down the hillside.
